Genoa Nevada
A quaint charming town, with a Victorian feel, nestled at the base of the Tahoe foothills of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountain range, approximately 250 residents call this township “home.” It is perfectly located approximately 25 minutes from Lake Tahoe, and 55 minutes from the Reno Tahoe International Airport. Whether you are planning a day visit or a longer trip, you will always feel welcome and at home in Genoa (pronounced je-NO-ah) Nevada.
Year-round Charm for Residents & Visitors Alike
Genoa, it is believed, was the first permanent trading post established by Mormon traders from Salt Lake City in 1851. When visiting, be sure and take in the history of this lovely town by visiting the Mormon Station Memorial State Park & Museum, the Genoa Courthouse, the Genoa Bar, the Hanging Tree and the cemetary.
Genoa allows you to “slow down” your pace of life while enjoying a leisurely meal or strolling through the local shops. One attraction you are sure to enjoy is the mule deer–affectionately known as the “other residents”. They are daily visitors as they quietly come down from the trees on the west side of Genoa to graze on local vegetation or fields near the Carson River. If you are driving through the town, please observe the local speed limits!
Prefer golf to shopping? No problem, be sure and visit Genoa Lakes Golf Course in Genoa Lakes or Genoa Lakes Golf Resort north of the town! Both are located just off of Hwy 207, commonly known as Foothill Rd which turns into Jacks Valley Rd just north of Genoa.
Come! Visit! Enjoy!
